There are two kinds of people in the world:
1. People who pee in the shower
2. Liars
I think the same can be said for people who claim to ‘never fall for Facebook ads’.
I am aware I get sucked into the ads targeted at me more than the average person but these algorithms know when I need or want something even before I do so, who am I to be mad that they are good at their job.
Facebook ads might bother me (and my fellow marketing majors) less than the average person, though. I am typically impressed at how spot on they are. The ads have shown me some amazing clothing/beauty websites that I would have never heard of. For example, Function of Beauty shampoo and conditioner.
When I first saw an ad for ‘personalized shampoo and conditioner’ I was naturally interested but thought it was too good to be true.
So I began to investigate this Function of Beauty place and was on my way to getting shampoo and conditioner ~as unique as me~.

Hook, line & sinker
1.
Choose your hair type, structure & moisture level
2.
Pick five hair goals
Picking just five #hairgoals was not taken lightly and may have been the hardest decision I've ever made but it had to be done.
Now that it is established what I want my new shampoo and conditioner to do for my locks, it was time for me choose a color, fragrance and name my formula.
3.
Choose color, fragrance and put your name on it
4.
Choose a size and frequency
Last but not least, is deciding the size and frequency. As if I wasn't already wildly impressed with this process, it kept getting better.
I am one of those people who always runs out of conditioner before shampoo. A simple solution to that problem would be just to buy a bigger bottle of conditioner than shampoo right? I wish it were that easy. For some sick and twisted reason, some companies only sell these tiny conditioners with huge bottles of shampoo. Really grinds my gears.
So, it was a pleasant surprise to learn I can get a big ass bottle of conditioner but still get a normal size shampoo.
I was also impressed by the fact that you have the option to subscribe to your formula (I didn’t subscribe but it’s cool having the option).
The shampoo and conditioner that is supposed to change my life is finally here!!!!!
(It is only supposed to take one week but one of their machines broke so they were operating a little slower than usual)
Presentation: 10/10
The box is pretty cute and ‘function of Ruthie May’ is written on the side. If I order from them again, I’m definitely going to put something way cooler for my name like Princess Ruth Land of Glitter.
Now that I have been using my function of beauty shampoo and conditioner every other wash for about two weeks:
Hats off to you Facebook, you won again.
I love how soft it makes my hair and it feels really healthy. I also think it is really cool how there is a subscription option and you can set a frequency that works best for you.
My only complaint is that it can make my hair feel oily even when it is clean because of how hydrating it is.
I don't have Mermaid or Victoria Secret Angel hair yet (key word) but I remain optimistic.
